Greetings from NBJK,
NBJK is aiming to restore vision of 1000 poor persons from rural India in collaboration with Global Giving. Till now with the generous support of Global Giving donors we have achieved more than half of the target fixed. NBJK achieved this target through Eye Check Up camps and Cataract Surgeries in its JNJP Eye Hospital. On regular basis the camps are being organized in the villages and patients are being treated in the camps with Surgery facility. Through this project NBJK aims to cater the need of socially and economically backward people.
SARJU SAW is one of the beneficiary lives in Pipara village. He is 62 years old man. Throughout his life he worked as a marginal farmer and sometimes even as a farm labourer. At present there are 5 members in his family. He has two sons and one daughter. After daughter’s marriage she lives with her family in another village. And his elder son is living separately with his family. Younger son who is a rickshaw puller lives with his wife one child and his parents. He works as a daily wage worker since he does not own his rickshaw. Sarju Saw spent his entire life in suffering with monetary problem.
Since last one and a half years, Sarju Saw was suffering from vision problem. Gradually Sarju Saw lost his vision and became dependent on his wife for his daily works. He felt himself as a burden for his family since his vision capacity was decreasing continuously and he was unable to do his work.
One day his son came to know about the Eye Screening Camp being organised by NBJK in their nearby village and brought his father there. He was diagnosed of cataract in his eye and was immediately brought to the hospital in the hospital van for operation. He was considered for free of cost cataract surgery under Global Giving. On 15th September, 2015 Sarju Saw got his cataract operated. The surgery was successful and very soon he got discharged from the hospital. He is under follow up service.
Whole of his family is so happy and conveyed their gratitude to the hospital persons and the programme. Receiving such feedback inspires us and helps us realise we are moving in the right direction. Restoring Vision is somehow equal to restoring dignified life to the person who can lead his rest of the life independently. Please keep supporting us in our efforts towards making a bright and colourful world for as many people as we can.
Warm Regards
