Dear Well Wisher and Supporter,
Greetings from NBJK!
There’s nothing like having eyesight and receiving the gift of sight with your support. With your support, we are trying to reach more needy people who have lost their eyesight due to cataract and provide them a new vision for making their life easy and independent thus giving them a new life.
We are very proud and obliged to share story of Sulekha with you.
Sulekha is 54 year old, who earns her livelihood by agriculture. She lives in a small village called Ektara, which comes under Mayurhand Block of Hazaribagh District in Jharkhand State. She is wife of Prem her children are also a daily worker. She faced problem in her eyes since last year, her vision was blurring and she was not able to do the work after sunset. Due to blur vision, she was facing pressure on her eyes and use to get headache during working hours. It was difficult for her to continue her daily work Eyes are one of the most important sensory organs in the human body which help us to view our surroundings, but when these eyes are affected by cataract the whole world begin to look blur and gradually become disappear due to loss of vision.. People living in cities are educated are very much aware of cataract. But people who live in remote areas or villages and have no knowledge about the cataract, and very few who knows does not have enough money and information to reach out to right place. She visited a local doctor and was diagnosed with cataract; she was suggested to go for surgery immediately. But due to COVID and poor financial condition of the family, she was unable to afford the cost of surgery. He then went on an eye screening camp organized at his panchayat level. From there he got referred to LNJP Hospital Dumka. There he got immediate services and surgery without any cost. All his costs were provided by the support of GlobalGiving. She is happy now and can do all her daily work without any problem. Her vision acuity has improved. She is thankful to GlobalGiving for their kind support for such poor rural patients.
