From Gongali to Mandela Institution (NM-AIST) - Seeking Sponsors to Inspire More Young Minds

During the TEA@SUNRISE Symposium in South Africa (Jan 19–24, 2025), sponsored by Swansea University, our solar lantern initiative was showcased on the international stage. Prof. Askwar Hilonga, Director of TAHUDE Foundation, shared our journey of empowering over 3,000 children in rural Tanzania through solar light since 2012. His presentation, under Theme 6: Suitable Business Models, received overwhelming interest—especially for its blend of clean energy and educational empowerment.

One of our proudest achievements was organizing an innovation competition at Gongali Primary School, where pupils formed mock companies and competed to win a sponsored tour to Arusha. The winning team visited Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) and other inspiring locations in the city.

These experiences plant life-changing dreams in young minds. Unfortunately, due to limited donations this quarter, we couldn’t extend this opportunity to more schools.

Now, building on the exposure from the South Africa symposium, we are actively seeking sponsors and partners to help us scale up this initiative—so more children can experience the world beyond their village, ignite their curiosity, and aspire to greater futures.
