This quarter we did not receive significant support on solar lanterns but we continued to support pupils at Gongali Primary School in other ways. This time we conducted innovation competition in which there were 10 companies made my pupils from Kindergarten to standard two. Other pupils also brought their products (self-made toys) to be sold in those companies. Parents were invited to purchase those items and the NYATI (Buffalo) company became the winner by selling more. The program was so exciting and was aired on a big Television in the country, called StarTV as shown here:

These could be an innovative approach to encourage pupils to think big and become innovators who solve real challenges in the community. THANKS for your interest and relentless support for this young generation from my underserved community.
At personal level, I am sacrificing a lot for these lovely young people. This time I taught them Mathematics for FREE! I had to wake up every morning – to not interfere with their normal school time table.
Some of them still need solar lanterns, so I will continue to fundraise for them and also for scale-up of this project to other parts of Tanzania.
Please kindly let me know how you would like to be involved, with time – just write to my email hilonga@gmail.com
THANKS!
Hilonga
