By Hannah Webb | Project Leader
In July, Project Have Hope supplemented the funds you helped raise on Global Giving to host a Solar Cooking workshop. Ten women were trained and received cooking bags and reduced charcoal stoves. These women were thrilled to get the opportunity to cook more safely and efficiently - saving their lungs and their money.
The new technology is really catching on in the community. Cooking bags are enabling women to spend less time over the stove, and more time working or attending classes. Participants are more likely to boil their water and ensure that it is safe to drink with the WAPI tool, which lets them know when they can stop boiling to save fuel. The reduced charcoal stoves and solar panel reflectors are saving families money on fuel, allowing them to spend it on food and other necessities. The short term benefits of these tools are changing lifestyles in the community, while the long term health benefits will be lifesaving.
Thank you for all that you have done for these women and Project Have Hope. We are eager to expand this important project. Please consider sharing our project link below with your network.
