In 2025, our initiative supported 1,235 school-going girls in Northern Uganda by providing sanitary pads and delivering comprehensive menstrual health education. We continue to reduce school absenteeism, improve girls’ confidence, and address stigma surrounding menstruation.
In addition to equipping girls with essential menstrual supplies and hygiene and self-care knowledge, we engaged boys in awareness sessions to promote understanding, respect, and support. These discussions helped dispel myths and significantly reduced teasing and misinformation within schools.
As a result, girls reported improved school attendance, greater confidence during their periods, and a more supportive learning environment. Boys demonstrated increased awareness and empathy, contributing to positive behavior change.
One beneficiary shared:
“Now I come to school confidently, and the boys no longer laugh at us because they understand.”
While this milestone is significant, many girls still lack access to menstrual health support. Join us in expanding this initiative and ensuring that every girl can manage her period with dignity and stay in school without interruption.
