Uplifting Rural Women Through Your Support

Tanu (name changed) got married when she was around the age of 16. Her husband was an alcoholic and used to beat her often. Tanu refused to tolerate this violence and returned to her parents' house after a year. She then sat the 12-grade exam and passed. Her husband came to her and convinced her to return home. But things didn't improve much. He continued to behave violently so she came once more to her parents' house. She then had the opportunity to attend a five-day training course on gender and life skills conducted by Seva Mandir. As her husband continued to harass her she decided to not to return to his house. Tanu was then persuaded by our youth leaders and Seva Mandir staff started looking for a job for her. She has now found a job and is currently working in Udaipur. She is one among the many women who are supported by Seva Mandir.

Last year, because of the support and all the help we received from well-wishers like you, we achieved the following:-

The Home gave support to 107 women along with their 71 children through shelter and counselling.
78% of the registered women were rehabilitated. 65% women re-joined their marital and natal families through counselling, 20% women left the home voluntarily, 11% started to live independently with employment, and 4% were referred to other organisations.
To address the health needs of women, weekly health camps were held in the premises by a gynaecologist.
26 women were aided to get employment.

A big thanks goes to you for these achievements. Seva Mandir is continuously trying to improve the lives of the women living in this part of the world. We hope that you will continuously support us for this much needed cause.
