A Grand Total of 990 Women Have Been Provided ANC!
By Ashley Pugh | Program Officer
Rojina Receives Her 1st Antenatal Care Visit
Dear HOPE Supporter,
It is with great happiness that I share with you that a total of 990 women have been provided ANC and ensured safe delivery! This is an incredible feat in just a mere few months. These women are not only receiving comprehensive antenatal care but are receiving extensive education on safe pregnancy delivery, nutrition for the mothers and care for the newborn. This type of care doesn't just serve 990 women but it serves her newborns and the children she has in the future. No longer will she go wtihout antenatal care and be unaware of potential complications and without nutrients; no longer will she give birth at home without a skilled attendant. No longer will she wait just two days too long to bring her newborn in who is suffering from fever. These women are equipped with the knowledge they need to take care of themselves and their families, which we think is truly beautiful. Thank you for caring about these women and their children.
Best Regards,
Ashley Pugh

Clean Birth Kit Distribution
By Ashley Pugh | Program Officer
This mother will show others how the kit works
Dear HOPE Supporter,
Recently, HOPE was fortunate enough to have donated clean birth kits, which are essential for a safe and sanitary birth for both the mother and child. These kits are particularly helpful in settings where there is no skilled attendant present, but are also useful in remote, rural hospitals such as HOPE Hospital. Here at HOPE, we are aware that many mothers will not come to the hospital for delivery or have a skilled professional in attendance at their birth. This is unfortunate, however we are realistic and know that many mothers are still delivering at home. That being said, we are asking mothers who are delivering at our hospital to help us spread the message. We are using the clean birth kits at the hospital during deliveries so the mother can see the benefits of the kits, and then asking the mother to take a kit back to her community to show other mothers how it is used. We want mothers to demand for themselves a cleaner/safer birth. Word of mouth from women who delivered with the kit is the best way we know how to send the message to them. Thank you for your support in helping us provide safe delivery.
Best Regards,
Ashley Pugh

This Woman and her Baby were Saved
By Ashley Pugh | Program Officer
An Educated Mother and her Newborn
Dear HOPE Supporter,
Thank you for your continued support of our work. I wanted to share with you a special story. Just last week I was visiting our projects and speaking to members in the community. The woman pictured here proudly came out of her home to let me know that she received an emergency cesarean section for her baby that she was holding. When I spoke with the translator as to how she knew she should go to the hospital, she informed me that HOPE's field workers had spoken to her about the importance of taking action during prolonged labor. She then sought care and her and her baby are doing great today. This story demonstrates to us that women just need the knowledge that is so critical to their and their baby's lives, and if they have the knowledge, they will do what is necessary. There is nothing more beautiful than a mother who is boastful that she knew what action to take during her labor, that would save her and her child's life and prevent morbidities such as obstetric fistula. Thank you for supporting such a life-saving project.
Sincerely,
Ashley Pugh
