We reached our goal! The Tunes program focuses on supporting and growing the next generation of musicians and artists while fostering an appreciation for the arts. Through the program, we raise funds to purchase new instruments which are donated to Title I public school music programs across the country. These instrument donations are presented by nationally touring bands (Tunes Ambassadors) who perform for students, lead music workshops and allow kids the opportunity to learn from successful touring musicians.
Thanks to your support during the GlobalGiving campaign in March, students at the Mills River Elementary School, a title 1 school in Hendersonville, NC, were surprised with a donation of over 50 new musical instruments including ukuleles, shakers, chimes, steel drum kits and kalimbas. The students were also treated to a musical demonstration, question and answer session and student/band jam session with the nationally touring band, Downtown Abby and the Echoes. The band spend over an hour talking with the kids about what it’s like to be a full-time musicians and how important music and musical training is.
Thank you for your support and belief in the power of music for everyone! To date, Can’d Aid’s Tunes Program has donated over 1,500 musical instruments to classrooms nationwide.
Please watch clips from the donation day where an impromptu dance circle erupts naturally and a young drummer wows the audience and band. You truly made an impact!
