In our world today, the world is going Green. There’s a significant shift to ensure the protection of our environment as we keep responding to the global climate crisis. This move requires that young people are developed when it comes to green skills. Green skills involve knowledge, abilities, values and attitudes needed to live in, develop and support a sustainable and resource-efficient society. Green skills are very important for young people as they can contribute to the green transition for a longer period of time.
In this quarter, we sought to find creative opportunities to engage adolescent girls thereby gaining access to provide accurate information on various topics especially Sexual reproductive issues associated with climate change. We leveraged on the theme to disseminate information and introduce them to our digital platforms where we provide non-judgmental answers to their various concerns and questions.
In commemoration of International Youth Day, My Question service sensitized the selected creative individual from those who engaged with our MYQUESTION platform on various topics on sexual reproductive health information and the importance of taking care of the climate. We also highlighted various ways that things can be improvised to achieve health and hygiene while maintaining a clean environment. During the activities, adolescents were given the opportunity to come up with various items using recyclable materials. Some of the recyclable materials include; ccartons, plastic bottles, scissors, pen knife, pencils, markers, tree seedlings, earth, garden shovel, hand gloves, T-shirts, Disc jockey. The event also served as an avenue to help relieve stress and enabled adolescents to express themselves in a unique way through arts.
During this event, we reach 23 adolescents with life changing information about their health and environment and made to believe that they can contribute their quota to ensuring that their environment is clean thereby reducing climate hazards.
