Every month, approximately 1.8 billion people around the world experience menstruation. While menstruation is a natural and normal part of life, adolescent girls often encounter various challenges such as stigma, inequality, discrimination, poverty, and cultural taboos. Menstrual hygiene plays a vital role in the overall health and well-being of girls and women. Unfortunately, many young girls struggle to navigate this aspect of their lives due to a lack of access to accurate menstrual hygiene information
In this quarter, we prioritized reaching adolescent girls by providing accurate information to various topics by introducing them to our digital solutions that provides answers to their various concerns and questions
To observe Menstrual Hygiene Day, MY Question Services took the initiative to raise awareness among the public regarding proper menstrual hygiene practices and the importance of eliminating stigma surrounding menstruation. Our focus was on a girls' school located in a rural area. We conducted a sensitization program where we educated the girls about menstruation, its significance, and the best practices for maintaining good menstrual hygiene. During the sensitization session, we provided comprehensive sexuality education, specifically addressing menstrual hygiene, to empower the girls with accurate information. Additionally, we introduced them to the My Question service, which allows them to seek guidance from professional counselors after the outreach program. Our aim was to provide them with a reliable platform where they could comfortably discuss any concerns or seek further assistance regarding menstrual health..
During this outreach, we successfully reached 204 girls and provided them with life-changing information regarding their health and menstruation. We engaged in open discussions about the various challenges they encounter during their menstrual cycles. The girls showed enthusiasm and appreciation for the valuable information they received. It was evident that they recognized the importance of the knowledge shared and were eager to apply it to improve their menstrual health and overall well-being..
During the session, the girls asked several insightful questions. Here are a few examples::
Is something wrong, I am 15 years and I’ve not seen my period?
Can someone see her period twice a month?
Can infection stop menstruation?
If someone hasn’t seen her period for 4 months, what should the person do?
If someone was raped and after the person hasn’t seen her period, what should she do?
All the questions posed by the girls, as well as others, were attentively addressed during the session. Our team provided comprehensive answers, ensuring that the girls received the information and clarity they sought. Additionally, we encouraged them to utilize the MYQuestion service for further assistance and guidance, should they have any additional inquiries or concerns in the future. The MYQuestion service aims to provide ongoing support and a reliable resource for accurate information related to menstrual health and hygiene.
