We would not stop, telling young people about one of the easiest way to access SRH factual SRHR information.  The MyQ service has helped many young people to make informed decisions about their sexual health, this time we let more people know about the service so that they would also be able to make informed choices. The highlight for this month is the celebration of Valentine’s Day. We created awareness for our technological platform the My Question and Answer Service that allows adolescents to access factual information about their sexual and reproductive health.

Valentine’s season is a unique period for adolescents and young people. Young people like older adults want to show love, feel loved and express love. This can be done in different ways, what is important to us is to do it the right way without putting themselves at risk of any sexual health issues.  The mobile health service team saw the need to celebrate with adolescents in school on the 14th of February, to provide them with the opportunity to receive unbiased and accurate information. The session was an interactive session where we spoke about the importance of body changes and managing emotions.

We reached 123 adolescent, the event was interactive and insightful as both boys and girls were able to express their opinions and asked questions. Some of the questions that the adolescent girls asked were.

  1. If having sex causes vesico-vaginal fistula
  2. Why do people have missed periods
  3. Causes of irregular periods
  4. Is it okay for me not to receive gifts during Valentine's Day?

I am happy that some of our concerns were answered today, I am better informed. I have better understanding about my body and I know the decisions I make about my emotional feelings are important (Female 14 years JS 2)

Your kind donation to our work is helping adolescents and young people in Nigeria to access accurate and non-judgemental information. We are happy and we say a very big Thank You!
