The highlight for this quarter is the commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child. We reached 102 girls in Government Secondary School(GSS) Mabushi in the Federal Capital Territory Nigeria. The theme for this year was “Digital Generation. Our Generation” leveraging on this global theme, we created awareness for our technological platform the MyQuestion and Answer Service that allows young girls to access factual information about their sexual and reproductive health. We also used the opportunity to educate the girls on menstrual hygiene management, puberty, body changes and, School Related Gender Based Violence. Through this event more girls now know where they could access information about the menstrual health and without being judged or discriminated against.
The event was interactive and insightful as young girls expressed their opinions and asked questions. Some of the questions that the adolescent girls asked were.
The girls have heard so many statements about being a girl that may not be accurate. This event debunked and provided factual information to them.
I feel so important and I am happy that I now know where to get correct information anytime I am confused (Female 16 years SS 2)
Your kind donations to our work are helping girls in Nigeria reach their full potentials. We excited and we say a very big Thank You!
