H.O.P.E. board member and long-time volunteer, Dr. Stephen Burgart, took a team to Haiti to offer additional dental services, deliver medical supplies, and host a mobile medical clinic in the mountains. The trip was not without hiccups, as their return to the airport required travel by sea this time around. The boat experienced mechanical issues and the team had to be rescued by the coast guard and escorted by police to catch their flight. Travel to Borgne often requires flexibility and comes with surprises of all kinds. The biggest one of all? The report from Dr. Thony that the mobile medical clinic was able to treat over 300 patients over 2 days -- so great!
Special thanks to Dr. Bill Hurtt, Aaron Hurtt, Dr. Marc Rossow, Dr. Jerome Jean-Gillis, Dr. Gary Berson, and Mike Burgart for their time and dedication to the community of Borgne. These volunteers give of their time, talent and treasure to travel to Haiti assist H.O.P.E. with delivering affordable healthcare to the community, and could not do so without the additional support of donors like you.
Thank you!
