Therapeutic workshops like art, singing, dancing, music, sports etc. have found to be among the most therapeutic and creative programmes for children. So, it has been for the Sunshine Children over the last twenty years, by offering programmes for them which are not part of the preschool syllabus. This is only possible because of the generosity of donors who have supported the organization. We are thankful to all of them.
The recent art workshop was facilitated by the renowned Sri Lankan artist, Pala Pothupitiya who shared his skills, talent and time with the children, parents and staff. Encouraging them through their active engagement in drawing and clay molding, they showed off their skills, were heard and were seen. The impact was intense and fun. The Sunshine Charity is committed in providing our children with non-structured creative activities which, as we have witnessed in the recent two-day art workshop, contributed in building strong minds, confidence and happiness. Coming from vulnerable communities, the children would not have the opportunity if not for their attendance at the Sunshine Preschool. We are thankful to artist Pala and our team of volunteers for their creative involvement. By helping the children to develop emotionally, build meaningful interpersonal relationships, such art workshops will reduce situations of vulnerability among our children.
