Hunger/Neglect Threaten Elderly Women Living Alone

By Joy Ojochogwu Etubi | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

Thank you for your support of the Provide Food Items for 32 Abandoned Elderly Women project. We sincerely appreciate every contribution made toward helping elderly women who have been forgotten by many but remain important members of our communities.

Growing old should not mean facing hunger alone. Yet many elderly women are living without family support, regular income, or anyone to assist with their daily needs. Some live by themselves and struggle to obtain even the most basic food items. Age, illness, and physical weakness make simple tasks such as cooking, shopping, or carrying food extremely difficult.

We are grateful for the donations received so far. However, the amount raised is not yet enough to begin the first phase of the project. More support is needed before food purchases and distributions can commence.

This project was developed to provide monthly food supplies to 32 elderly women who have little or no family support. The planned food packs will contain staple items that can help them prepare regular meals and reduce the burden of food insecurity. Distribution will be organized in ways that are safe and convenient for the beneficiaries.

During preliminary community discussions, it became clear that many elderly women are quietly enduring hardship behind closed doors. Some survive on irregular meals, while others depend entirely on occasional assistance from neighbors or well-wishers. Without support, poor nutrition can worsen existing health conditions and reduce their quality of life.

Your generosity brings hope that these women will not be left to face these challenges alone. As additional donations come in, we look forward to moving closer to implementation and sharing updates from the field.

Thank you for remembering elderly women who deserve care, dignity, and the comfort of knowing they have not been forgotten.

Warm regards,

Joy Ojochogwu Etubi
