Bojongloa Kidul, October 3, 2025 – On a bright afternoon in the Bojongloa Kidul area, precisely behind the Kiaracondong Terminal, an act of kindness took place. Rumah Zakat volunteers greeted Mak Imas Suraidah, a 63-year-old elderly woman born in Garut, with a package of happiness in the form of 5 kilograms of rice.
Tears of joy fell from Mak Imas's eyes as she received the aid. With a trembling voice, she expressed her gratitude and emotion that there were still people who cared about her life. “Alhamdulillah, thank you for remembering me,” she said softly.
Mak Imas' life has not been easy. Fifteen years ago, she became a widow after her husband passed away due to diabetes. Her sorrow deepened when her first child also passed away due to the same disease. Now, Mak Imas depends on her second child, who works as a gymnastics coach, to support her daily needs.
Through the elderly sharing program, Rumah Zakat hopes to ease Mak Imas's burden and bring a smile to her twilight years. The simple assistance in the form of rice is expected to be a source of strength, showing that even in the midst of limitations, there are still kind hands to help.
