Rumah Zakat Distributes Basic Needs for Elderly People in Ponggang Village

Subang - As a form of concern, Rumah Zakat distributed aid to the elderly who were alone in the Ponggang Village area, Serangpanjang District, Subang Regency on Thursday, (24/04/2025). The food packages distributed included rice, cooking oil, and eggs. This assistance targeted the elderly who live alone in RT 10, 11, 12 and 13 without family companions. The presence of volunteers was greeted with emotion and gratitude.

One of the recipients was Inik, a 96-year-old grandmother who has been living alone since her husband and children passed away. Her days are spent in silence in a simple house, only occasionally accompanied by neighbors.

A similar story comes from Atik, a 78-year-old elderly woman who lives in a house built by the community. Despite living in limitations, she remains patient and grateful to receive assistance. This activity is a reminder of the importance of social care, especially for the elderly who are often overlooked. An atmosphere full of emotion accompanied the moment of handing over the basic necessities, as seen from the tears and warm embraces of the recipients.

"Alhamdulillah, thank you, son, for coming all the way to my house. I haven't seen you for a long time," said Inik in a soft voice while holding the hand of a Rumah Zakat volunteer.

This assistance is part of Rumah Zakat's humanitarian program to have a real impact in the community. Especially for the elderly who often escape social attention.

Through this program, Rumah Zakat hopes to inspire more parties to care for the elderly. Their needs are simple, but the impact is extraordinary if we are present and share. This program is also in line with the humanitarian values that Rumah Zakat continues to maintain.
