Community security workers in rural Nigeria patrol forests and villages to protect lives, yet many lack basic first aid support. When injuries occur, they face delays in care, risking infection or death. This project will provide first aid kits, basic training, and emergency support to help them respond to injuries quickly and stay safe while protecting their communities.
Across rural Nigeria, local security volunteers operate in remote areas with no access to immediate medical care. Many suffer cuts, wounds, and other injuries during patrol without proper treatment. Lack of first aid supplies exposes them to infections and long recovery periods. Without support, those protecting communities are left vulnerable and unable to continue their duties safely.
This project will provide first aid kits containing bandages, antiseptics, gloves, and basic medical supplies to community security workers. It will also include simple first aid training on how to treat wounds and respond to emergencies. By equipping them with these tools, injuries can be managed early, reducing complications and helping them continue their work safely.
With access to first aid and basic skills, community security workers will be better prepared to handle injuries and emergencies. This will improve their health, reduce preventable complications, and support continuity of their work. In subsequent time, safer working conditions will strengthen community protection efforts and build trust between local residents and those safeguarding them.
