Provide Education for Talented Roma Children

Year 2018 was a really great time for us. We managed to coordinate successfully our long-term projects such as the scholarship program, the Summer Academy and the Gypsy Bashavel Festival, and we also continued with a lot of new activities in our project called Young Roma Leaders.

Our young leaders continued their activities in primary schools. We visited the school in Spišský Štvrtok for the second time, where our young people inspired Roma and non-Roma children with their life stories and workshops. They also talked about the biggest problems that young people face in their studies.

In cooperation with the non-profit organization Eduma, we launched a brand new project – „Colors of Roma Identity“, where young leaders were trained to work with children from substitute families. Many of them positively influenced lives of this children and their parents.

 

The year 2018 was also significant by becoming a member of the platform - “Bridges of Generational Poverty.” We believe that by merging with other organizations that deal with similar problems, we can improve our work even more effectively than ever before.

Like every year, we are very happy for the successes of our children and especially those from their studies. Whether it is a successful admission to a high school, an improvement in a degree, or a graduation. In 2018, we were most pleased with the success of our long-time student Janko Deme, who successfully graduated from medicine and also from our two graduates, Janka and Dominika, who graduated with honors and both were accepted for high-quality colleges. Miško also has two colleges from which to choose and many others are actively preparing for graduation exams.

We thank all those who have supported us in any way, thanks to you we can do great things together and give young people a chance to grow.
