Provide Education for Talented Roma Children

This year we had the opportunity to participate, together with young people from our program, to the excellent training of volunteer laic counselors, which took place in Bratislava. Our Young Leaders have been able to move forward in their abilities of lay counselors once again and thanks to their hard work and excellent lecturer Janette Mazíniová Motlová many of them have also passed the final exam.

"The project of volunteer laic counselors had been based on the fact that Roma children often encounter in the non-Roma environment misunderstanding and suppression of their Roma spirit. Sometimes, their Roma identity also abhors the environment for which it is not always easy to find people who might know what to do in certain situations. Also, the non-profit organization "From Emotions to Knowledge" - Eduma, in collaboration with our organization "Divé maky", has come up with a project that we can help together to adoptive and professional families and their Roma children."

The work of laic counselors is very meaningful and helps many families, seeing the response of one of the mothers who sent us a web reference: "I had the opportunity to spend a few days with young counselors. They are mature, self-confident people with a large willingness to help, it impresses me and gives me hope that the young people know how to give and not only take, for our daughter it has opened a new world in which the Roma people can be both nice, cheerful and crazy and not just a junky. Our adoptive daughter was very pleased to inform her classmates, that she has a little Romany language besides English, and she has a great Roma friend who happens to have the same name as her. We thank Eduma, Janette and all the volunteer laic counselors for a great emotional weekend, which was perhaps only the beginning! "

Thanks to you, our great sponsors and supporters we can organise a lot of events for these children and youth every year. There they can work on improving their talents, skills and personalities. We can also organise small trips, train our mentors (who are the second parents of our children) and also deal with unexpected expenses and hard life situations of our children, that unfortunately sometimes occurs.
