We had the opportunity to organize training of our mentors last weekend, as well as teambuilding of the entire team of Wild Poppies organization. The training took place in Kralovany in the pension Rosnicka during a beautiful autumn weekend full of sunshine.
Mentors are employees of Wild Poppies organization who work directly with children. Their job is to develop the personality of the children who they are mentors to. They spend time with them, motivate them to study further, and help them to deal with a complicated life situations and problems. Mentor is a person who spends regular time with “his child" or young person, builds his character, shares successes and misfortunes and monitors his progress during the school year.
During the training we met together also with the original mentors we had in the team for longer period and the new mentors who started to do this job this school year. The training consisted of several teambuilding activities and outdoor games, during which we had a lot of fun, but also a theoretical lectures on proper mentoring and leadership of young and children from the Wild Poppies program took an important part of the training.
During the training we met a lot of great people with a huge optimism and motivation to work with young people involved in the Wild Poppies program. Being part of this training has been a great pleasure for us and we would certainly take many positive experiences and contacts to a great group of young enthusiastic people working with children and youth. We hope to reinforce the team spirit of mentors and also that we will be able to organize such a trainings regularly as mentors are a necessary part of our work and without them our scholarship program could not work. We thank them for their work, and we are very happy that they help us to buld a better generation with us.
Thanks to you, our great sponsors and supporters we can organise a lot of events for these children and youth every year. There they can work on improving their talents, skills and personalities. We can also organise small trips, train our mentors (who are the second parents of our children) and also deal with unexpected expenses and hard life situations of our children, that unfortunately sometimes occurs.
Thanks to your support and your donations via GlobalGiving we change lives of talented Roma children who need it the most. We would be very pleased if you became our donor and support our activities. With your help we can create new generation of Roma- educated, hardworking, confident and proud.
