Dear Cherished Donor,
Before you donated to Social Promise, there was no primary school at St. Jude Children’s Home. Teenage girls at the orphanage could not attend secondary school. Children with severe physical disabilities had extremely restricted mobility and couldn’t pay for wheelchairs. Your donation turned all of that around.
Last June I once again visited with our partners in Uganda and saw the amazing impact of your donations. The St. Jude Primary School – a direct result of your generosity and forward thinking – now offers a highly sought-after education to the children from St. Jude’s Home as well as to those in the local community. Over 36 children now attend secondary school and four more are in vocational or professional schools as a direct result of your donation. Perhaps most impressively, you bought 35 wheelchairs for people with disabilities. Can you imagine how dramatically you changed a life? I saw it in person during the summer and it was inspirational. I saw children who once were confined to a life spent on the floor of a mud hut now able to move. While in Uganda, I was able to help start a relationship with a local nonprofit that is now providing low cost wheelchairs to Consolation Home, within St. Jude Children's Home.
The close relationship between Social Promise and St. Jude Children’s Home allows us to confidently assure you that the investments you are making in the future of children in northern Uganda will have great yield. You are literally saving lives. Orphaned babies are being housed, fed, clothed, and cared for. Children are being given an education and thus a chance at future employment so they can one day provide food, housing and an education for others. Wheelchairs are absolutely transforming the lives of people with paralysis. Mothers are giving birth in safety. Children are receiving immunizations.
