We are extremely grateful for our group of generous donors who are making this project possible. With the funding we have already received, we have been making excellent progress on the project. We have already sealed/water-proofed the concrete roof of the building, installed all new windows, installed new LED lighting, roughed-in plumbing for the three new bathrooms for the medical staff, and painted the interior walls with a first coat.
I was able to visit the site last week and took a few photos of the project, so our donors could see the progress we have made. Next up will be the completion of the bathrooms (including all new fixtures), finishing the floor in a manner that will be easy to keep clean and sterile, adding some small walls and doors, and repainting. We hope to complete this phase of the work before the end of 2025.
The Centro de Salud recently received a new director. He is quite excited about the work and is asking how we can help. He will prepare the request to the government to reclassify the facility from "clinic" to hospital once the current phase is complete.
After this project phase, we plan to seek equipment for the new facility and expand the Center's emergency room capacity.
Stay tuned for more.
