Despite the impact of COVID-19 in Kenya, with schools being closed and basic necessities becoming hard to get hold of, Phyllis continues to provide love, warmth and nurturing for her many children. They have been kept safe and well during this time and are enjoying spending time at home with Phyllis, the staff and each other. The children and staff have been doing their best to self quarantine, with only ocassional supply trips to town. We are happy to report the children at Lewa are thriving and full of energy!
Thankfully the Baraka Farm provides most of the food for the children, and will continue to do so as we move out of lockdown. It has become obvious during this time that the playground at Lewa is in desperate need of a refurb and the team are currently working hard to raise the funds required.
As you can probably imagine, there is a lot of washing to do with all these children to care for, which Phyllis and her team do around the clock. They are appealing for funds towards a new washing machine which will save them time and effort, meaning energy can be refocused on other priorities.
