If you were to meet Michelle* today, you’d see a confident, cheeky little girl with a feisty and outgoing character. She’s almost unrecognisable from the child who arrived at Lewa as a toddler. Neglected by her parents and living in destitution with her grandmother, Michelle had a difficult start in life.
Michelle is still very small for her age, a sign of how malnourished she was as an infant. However, what she lacks in height is definitely made up by her personality. Michelle knows what it means to feel hungry and alone. But here at Lewa, she’s surrounded by love and cuddles. That love has helped her to grow into the confident child she is today.
We can only provide that love and care to all of the children here at Lewa thanks to generous supporters like you. After all, you’re the people who care about the lives and futures of some of the world’s most vulnerable children.
This January, she started pre-school. Thanks to your support, Lewa was able to provide an education, uniform and basic school stationary to Michelle and her classmates at the KipKeino school.
Going to school is the first step to escaping the cycle of poverty that they have been born into. Michelle is such a bright and wonderful little girl – and thanks to you I know her star will continue to shine.
Little By Little Campaign: your donation goes the extra mile
This week, and this week only, GlobalGiving is running the Little By Little campaign. Every donation you make until March 27th to the Lewa Children's Home, will be matched 50% by GlobalGiving. For example, if you give £20, that's £30 that will go to the project - at no extra cost to you - to help more children like Michelle get the education they need to look forward to a brighter future.
I know you probably have a lot on your mind right now, but I hope you'll consider making a small gift. Phyllis Keino and her dedicated staff and volunteers rely on the generosity of friends like you to continue caring for children who had absolutely nothing and no one, until they found a loving home at Lewa.
Michelle is such a bright and wonderful little girl – and thanks to you I know her star will continue to shine.
Thank you for your continued trust and support.
