Dear friends, donors, and interested people,
Since the last report, funding has slowed. We have already reached our initial target but this is no reason to let up now, especially as we are aiming for the full $40,000!
Nesting season on the Andaman coast for leatherback and olive ridley turtles, and the Phuket and Phang Nga coasts, is beginning. Whilst this is exciting news for the struggling turtle population, it also represents a crucially important time for local turtle populations.
If females become entangled in ghost nets they may struggle to reach the beach and survive to lay their eggs, nests are extremely vulnerable meaning extra care and rescues are needed at this time of year. Hatchlings must reach the sea and survive; reduced ocean plastic and patrolled beaches both contribute greatly to increased survival rates amongst vulnerable hatchlings.
Therefore donations are still as - if not more - important as ever and your support is still needed! Thank you for taking the time to read this report and engage with this amazing project.
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
