This project aims to preserve the endangered Iraqi buffalo, which is facing a serious decline due to climate change, shrinking water resources, and lack of veterinary care. The project will support buffalo herders in provinces like Dhi Qar, Diyala, and Basra through improved animal health services, sustainable livelihood support, and the development of local dairy production.
Within ten years, more than 50% of Iraq's buffalo population will become extinct. For many reasons, these animals are increasingly threatened, and we need your help to protect them. Climate change, unsustainable tourism, and increasing human activity are the main factors contributing to the endangerment of Iraqi buffalo. Without protection from the tourism industry and without safe habitats, we will not be able to provide them with effective assistance The Iraqi buffalo population is decreasing
This project aims to create awareness through outreach programs as well as engaging the surrounding community to become active members in protecting their local buffalo. We hope by doing this as well as promoting sustainable tourism we can have an effect on peoples way of thinking and spread awareness around the poaching issue. We also provide protection, monitoring and rehabilitation to those that have been injured to ensure these animals have the best chance of survival in the wild.
Through awareness campaigns, we hope to make this project sustainable by engaging the local community and educating about responsible tourism, ensuring the continued protection of elephants for years to come. By monitoring and studying the remaining buffalo populations in the wild, we can track changes and trends, strengthening our role in their conservation.
