Protected Area Expansion Project

The Zululand Conservation Trust recived funding for and built a fully functional Regional Operations Room to strengthen conservation security across the greater Zululand landscape. The facility is available to reserves across the region and forms an important part of ZCT’s broader Range Expansion Project, supporting stronger collaboration and coordinated protection across an increasingly connected conservation area.

The Operations Room serves as a central hub for receiving, monitoring and coordinating security information. It supports ranger teams and reserve management by improving communication, incident response and the sharing of intelligence between participating conservation areas.

By bringing information together in one central facility, the Operations Room allows threats to be identified and responded to more quickly, while helping reserves work together rather than operating in isolation.

The facility is now operational and provides an important regional conservation resource. As ZCT continues working towards landscape expansion and stronger connectivity between protected areas, the Operations Room will play an increasingly important role in supporting coordinated wildlife protection across Zululand
