Progress is being made with the Diedricks Property

By Julia Elliott | Fundraising and Reporting Manager

We are pleased to share exciting progress on the Zululand Conservation Trust’s land expansion project. The new property is steadily transforming into a secure and functional conservation area, and each milestone brings us closer to returning this land to wildlife.

Over the past months, perimeter fences have been completed, ensuring the protection of the area and laying the foundation for the safe introduction of wild animals. Alien plant clearing continues across the site, with dedicated teams working to restore natural vegetation and ensure a healthy ecosystem for the species that will soon call this land home.

Infrastructure to support future conservation activities is now in place. Boreholes have been drilled and fitted to provide reliable water sources across the property, and a strong road network has been developed, enabling easy access for management, monitoring, and anti-poaching patrols. These crucial systems ensure that the reserve is not only safe for wildlife but also well-prepared for long-term management.

It is inspiring to see the vision coming together. Each step brings us closer to turning this landscape back into a thriving wild space, ready to support endangered species and contribute to the greater conservation landscape of the region.
