Dear Donor,
Environmental conservation is strengthened when people have access to useful information and opportunities to discuss the challenges affecting their communities.
Uganda Wildlife Society has used community engagement, public dialogue, and radio outreach to encourage greater understanding of sustainable natural resource management.
In Mayuge District, three radio talk shows focused on the technical aspects and importance of trees and environmental management. The Society also organized five dialogues that reached over 2,000 people across Uganda, encouraging greater awareness of sustainable natural resource use and the importance of collaboration.
These approaches serve complementary purposes. Radio can communicate conservation messages to audiences beyond direct project beneficiaries, while dialogues allow participants to exchange views, discuss challenges, and explore opportunities for coordinated action.
Topics such as tree management, forest restoration, sustainable land use, biodiversity conservation, and community responsibility are important to households and institutions that depend on natural resources.
UWS recognizes that communicating environmental information is only one part of the process. Sustained progress also depends on practical opportunities for communities to apply what they learn and on cooperation among the stakeholders responsible for managing natural resources.
We appreciate the communities, radio partners, participants, and supporters who have contributed to these activities.
By combining public awareness with dialogue, we are helping make environmental conservation a shared conversation and a collective responsibility.
Thank you for supporting community engagement, environmental education, and sustainable natural resource management across Uganda.
