Warm greetings to our dedicated GlobalGiving community! We would like to share an encouraging case update and express our heartfelt gratitude for the support that makes this critical work possible.
The HUG Project first became involved when the parents of a seven-year-old girl contacted our hotline. Their daughter had been targeted through TikTok by an adult posing as a young girl. HUG supported the family through reporting the case and navigating the complex justice process. While the suspect was arrested in April 2026, he initially received a suspended sentence.
Several months later, our team identified a widely shared Facebook post from another mother warning parents about similar online behavior. HUG and Thailand’s Cyber Police proactively contacted this second family, connected the new report with the earlier case, and opened a broader investigation.
On September 10, 2026, Cyber Police, accompanied by HUG Project staff, arrested the suspect and seized two mobile phones. Further investigation revealed that over the previous two years, he may have used this exact method to target young girls aged ten or under more than 50 times. This major breakthrough was made possible largely through dedicated institutional funding alongside the everyday contributions of individual supporters like you. While large grants build our foundational strength, every individual gift, no matter the size, directly fuels the day-to-day operations that allow us to run accessible hotlines, perform proactive online monitoring, support families, and coordinate rapidly with specialized law enforcement.
Thank you for standing with us to protect vulnerable children, pursue justice, and safeguard their dignity, privacy, and well-being.
