Dear Donor,
We're glad to send you some news from our activities in the Philippines. This summer, 21 new girls have been admitted in our centers. If you're interested to sponsor one of them, feel free to contact us: parrainages@cameleon-association.org
Best wishes,
The CAMELEON Team
Anniversary of the Negros center
In 2019, CAMELEON extended its reach to Negros Island by opening a new center in Silay City. From its original maximum capacity of 20, the center is now accommodating 30 girls from various cities and municipalities in the province. Last May 30, 2023, the girls and the staff celebrated the important milestones with a series of activities fostering unity and camaraderie.
Therapy sessions
Last May, 88 girls participated in the music, sound healing, yoga and meditation activities. They learned different ways of breathing, body movements, chanting and relaxation that are helpful for their physical and emotional well-being. These therapeutic activities help reduce anxiety, offer emotional support and facilitate life-affirming interaction for the beneficiaries. We are thankful for the support, kindness and time of Lee and Francesca (friends from Manila) in facilitating these activities.
Career assessment for the After-care girls
23 After-Care girls participated in a career assessment session last June. This aimed to provide engaging and interesting ways to learn and explore different careers that they could take. Through its Job placement program, CAMELEON organizes activities that help the girls increase their self-awareness, interests, values, and skills for job opportunities.
Parent effectiveness seminar
CAMELEON In-House Passi organized a Parent Effectiveness Seminar last June 23, 2023 in Passi Center. It aimed to educate and provide information to the parents on parenting and children’s rights, to equip them with the knowledge on how to be an effective parent to their children’s growth and development. It strengthens family relationships — a necessary factor towards girls’ healing and recovery.
Sending-off ceremonies in our centers
Last July 22 and 28, 21 girls from the CAMELEON Residential Care Program were successfully reintegrated to their respective communities. We are proud of the girls’ self-determination to take on such an uneasy path towards healing and recovery. But their transformative journey does not end here.
Through our Aftercare Program, they will be continuously supported in all aspects of their being until they finish their college education and eventually, become accomplished individuals who will serve as agents of change in their own community and champions of CAMELEON’s advocacy.
