CAMELEON girls and staff in Nepal
Last February, five girls with two accompanying staff from CAMELEON Philippines and Charlotte, Operational Director of CAMELEON France, went to Nepal for a 10-day exposure trip with SOS-Bahini, a partner NGO supported by CHL (Cooperation Huminataire Luxembourg). This was a good opportunity for a cross-cultural experience by interacting with fellow beneficiaries from SOS-Bahini, and knowledge transfer of best practices of exchange activities of both NGOs. “The trip taught me a lot of life-lessons and gave me more courage to be an example and inspiration to my fellow girls” – Juliene, 19 years old, beneficiary of our post-residential care program.
Arrival of new beneficiaries
11 new girl survivors of sexual abuse were integrated in our centers since the beginning of 2023. They are now part of the CAMELEON family and provided with medical care, educational assistance, psycho-social interventions and legal support.
Valentine's Day Celebration
In the centers, the girls celebrated Valentine's Day, a very popular day in the Philippines. Through group workshops with the social workers, they were able to express themselves on their representations of love. At the end of the day, during a team-building activity, five beneficiaries were chosen to represent their teams in a parade. The girls were able to overcome their shyness by being encouraged by their fellow girls. All the girls contributed to the creation of the costumes for the parade. This event brought the girls together and helped them regain confidence in themselves and in their talents.
Computer training for the girls in Silay
The beneficiaries of our Silay center underwent a 3-day computer training, provided by Negros Occidental Language & Information Technology Center. This practical training provided them with valuable knowledge on computer functions and internet usage, as well as computer hardware, networking and troubleshooting.
2023 Summer camp “Change maker”
The Summer Camp was organized by CAMELEON beneficiaries and staff in the Philippines last April. After three years of health crisis, the celebration of this event entitled "Change maker" brought together more than 600 people including children and young beneficiaries, parents, CAMELEON staff and partners. Games, sports challenges, contests and artistic displays were all part of the program, with a warm and friendly spirit. You can wtach the teaser of the 25th Anniversary and Summer Camp 2023 celebration!
