EMPOWERING GIRLS WITH KNOWLEDGE AND PROTECTION

By Othieno Gerald | Project Leader

Adolescent girls in rural areas continue to face significant challenges that threaten their education and future opportunities. Limited access to menstrual hygiene products, combined with inadequate reproductive health education, often results in absenteeism, low self-esteem, and increased vulnerability.

During this reporting period, our project strengthened efforts to provide menstrual hygiene support while expanding life-skills and health education sessions. These activities equipped girls with knowledge about personal hygiene, reproductive health, and decision-making skills that can help reduce risks associated with early pregnancy and school dropout.

The reduction of support for youth-friendly health services has left many communities with fewer opportunities for adolescents to access reliable information. In response, our outreach teams worked closely with schools and local leaders to ensure girls continued receiving guidance and mentorship.

Beneficiaries reported feeling more informed and confident discussing health-related concerns. Teachers noted that girls who previously missed school regularly are now attending classes more consistently and participating actively in lessons.

The impact extends beyond the classroom. Educated and empowered girls are more likely to complete their education, delay early marriage, and pursue economic opportunities that improve their lives and communities.

Your support is helping create safer environments where girls can learn, grow, and thrive. Together, we are ensuring that menstruation does not become a barrier to education and that every girl has the opportunity to build a brighter future.
