The Mpox outbreak remains a serious concern for vulnerable families in Himbi, Goma, North Kivu, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Families living in overcrowded conditions, particularly those displaced by conflict and struggling with poverty, face additional challenges in accessing reliable health information and basic hygiene supplies. This project aims to help prevent the spread of Mpox through community awareness campaigns, local radio broadcasts, megaphone outreach, social media, and the distribution of hygiene kits to those most in need.
The project is currently in its preparation and fundraising phase. Our team is identifying qualified trainers and community members who will participate in the planned awareness activities. Once implementation begins, the project will focus on promoting handwashing, sharing practical prevention information, encouraging early reporting of suspected symptoms, and coordinating with local health authorities. Although these activities have not yet started, the preparation underway is an important step toward delivering an effective, community-based response.
The total project budget is $50000, and we have received $2 in donations so far. While this is only the beginning, every contribution matters. With the support of GlobalGiving, we are working to expand the project's visibility, reach more international donors, and mobilize the resources needed to achieve our goal. We are grateful to GlobalGiving for providing a platform through which our initiative can connect with people who care about protecting vulnerable communities. We also sincerely thank our first donors for believing in this mission.
We invite individuals, foundations, and compassionate partners around the world to support this project. Your donation can help bring reliable health information, essential hygiene supplies, and life-saving prevention messages to families at risk in Goma. Together, we can strengthen community preparedness, reduce the risk of transmission, and help protect those who have the fewest resources to protect themselves. With continued collaboration, greater donor participation, and sustained fundraising efforts through GlobalGiving, we hope to mobilize the support needed to turn this initiative into meaningful action. Thank you for standing with vulnerable families in Goma.
