1. Context and Rationale
In eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, particularly in South Kivu, climate change is severely undermining rural livelihoods. Erratic rainfall, flooding, soil erosion, and water scarcity are disrupting agricultural production and worsening food insecurity.
The most vulnerable farming families lack the tools and resources needed to cope with these challenges. Without urgent support, the situation may lead to worsening hunger, displacement, and long-term environmental damage.
2. Project Objective
This project aims to strengthen the climate resilience of 50 vulnerable farming families by providing practical and sustainable solutions to secure their food supply, water access, and livelihoods.
3. Approach and Key Activities
The project follows an integrated, community-centered approach:
The project is currently in the preparatory phase, including the identification of trainers and beneficiaries. Activities are scheduled to begin in November 2025.
4. Expected Results
Beyond numbers, this initiative is about restoring hope and enabling communities to build a stable and dignified future.
5. Budget and Funding Status
The total project budget is estimated at USD 140,000.
To date, no funds have yet been raised.
However, through our collaboration with GlobalGiving, we are confident in our ability to reach this goal. This partnership connects the project to a global network of committed donors.
