Update: Tree Project Needs Support

By Joyce Kinyamgala | Project Leader

Dear Supporters,

Thank you for your continued commitment to the Protect Environment for Our Protection (PEP) project. We are grateful for every individual who has stood with us in our mission to combat deforestation and protect communities in Tanzania.

Since our last reports, where we shared progress on planting 14,630 trees, engaging community volunteers, and expanding nursery sites, we continue to uphold the mission of environmental restoration despite significant challenges.

Current Status of the Project

Over the past months, the project has been temporarily paused due to a continued lack of new donations. This has affected our ability to carry out new activities, including:

  • Expanding tree nurseries
  • Conducting community awareness sessions
  • Supporting the maintenance and watering of seedlings during the dry season

Despite these limitations, our team has kept the project alive through:

1. Continued Monitoring

Volunteers in Nguruka ward and neighboring villages continue to monitor the previously planted trees and report on their condition.

2. Protecting Existing Seedlings

Over 500 seedlings in nursery beds remain under basic care, though the lack of irrigation support remains a serious challenge.

3. Community Engagement

Local youth and women groups remain motivated and ready to resume activities once resources become available. Their commitment gives us hope and energy to push forward.

Challenges Being FacedNo New Donations

Since our last communication, we have not received any contributions to help resume activities, making it difficult to sustain progress.

Irrigation Needs During Dry Season

Many planted seedlings are vulnerable without a reliable water supply. Installing simple irrigation systems requires funding we currently do not have.

Paused Field Activities

Most fieldwork and community sensitization activities remain on hold until we secure new support.

Looking Ahead: Our Commitment Remains Strong

Although the project is temporarily slowed, our long-term vision to plant 1,000,000 trees in Tanzania is still alive. We continue to seek partnerships, prepare proposals, and engage stakeholders who share our passion for environmental conservation.

Your support remains crucial in helping us restart activities and protect the seedlings already planted.

Our Appeal to You

If possible, we kindly request your support to help us move the project forward:

  • A donation of any amount will help us revive the nurseries and safeguard the trees already planted.
  • Sharing our project with your networks can help us reach more people who care about climate action.

Even $1 helps us nurture a seedling that can grow into a life-changing tree.

Thank You

We deeply appreciate your patience, kindness, and belief in our mission. Each step we take together brings Tanzania closer to a greener, safer, and more resilient environment.

We look forward to sharing better news in our next update.
