Safe Stoves

Now ran is stopped and the right time for the production groups to make safe stoves.  We are grateful for your generous donation and support.

1200 Darfur refugee mothers received safe stove.  1200 women and girls reduced their trips to collect firewood by 75%. In the shelters, mothers are cooking food for their families without producing huge smoke during cooking process as when they used to cook on their traditional stoves.

Now, We are working with two students from Butler University to help us with this project.

Without your support, the refugee mothers production groups could not be able to make 1200 safe stoves to earn income  to take care  and the beneficiaries couldn't impact postively from this project.

.
You are our hope to continue reducing the trips of collecting firewood for more refugee women by 75%.
Please help us during #GivingTuesday, Our project link is on the GlobalGiving’s 2017 #GivingTuesday campaign will begin November 28th, 2017, at 00:00:01 EST and end at 23:59:59 EST on November 28th, 2017.

Hello our friends,

I am excited today to share with you the result of our pormise to 200 Darfur refugee mothers
for the International Women's Day. You enable us to fillfull our promise and help the refugees
to celebrate that great Day. Thank you so much for your support and for protecting and empowering
women.

"It's summer in Chad so the children take on the responsibility of gathering firewood
which is an all day trip. Their journey is exhausting and dangerous as they fight
extreme winds, 107 degree temperatures and bandits. The need to decrease firewood
gathering trips is necessary for their safety and their families. In addition to
harsh weather and environmental challenges, there has been a serious water shortage.
The women and their families who survive daily in these conditions are so brave and
true warriors of what the human spirit can do.

The safe stoves program helps reduce the trips for firewood and also helps with
environmental conservation issues. Darfur Women Network provided 200 safe stoves
to refugee mothers in the camps on International Women's Day 2017 as a gift.
The Darfur Women Network provided Darfur refugee women who produce safe stoves in the camp
with opportuntiy to generate income as gift as well to celebrate International Women's Day.

We pledge to continue empowering these women and their communities.
Thank you to all of our supporters who are directly impacting the lives of so many.
Without your help, it would be a daunting task. We ask that those of you who are new
to our organization please take time to read more about us and see what you can do to help!"

Our plan is to have for every stove provided, DWN also donates 3 trees to be planted in
or around the camps. However, the shortages of water, hot weather, and wind make it difficult
for us to talk to the refugees bout planting trees. You will find video showsthe suffering of
the refugees to reflect on our privilege

On behalf of Darfur Women Network, I would like to share a special update about the impact of your support. For International Women’s Day, March 8th, Darfur Women Network is excited to share that an additional 200 Safe Stoves were made and will be distributed in Chad, in a Darfur refugee camp, thank you for your contribution!

Your International Women’s Day’s gift, will help refugee women to earn income, take care of their children, increase their self-esteem, improve interfamily relationships, and change the perception of the community toward women.

Your gift will also help 200 mothers to reduce their trips to collect firewood from the forest by 75%. You are protecting them from rape, improving the healthy environment of their homes, and increasing their safety.

Our president of the Board is currently in Chad. Our Project Manager Assistant departed to the refugee camp to lead our gift project. The communication is not the best. Since he left to Chad, on February 25, 2017, I could not reach him.

He will work with the team to execute this project and he will interview the refugees who collect firewood in the forest and collect information regard Safe Stoves beneficiaries and the Economic Empowerment group who produce Safe Stoves.

Our Executive Director, Mastora Bakhiet, was one of the five women whom were honored at Women of Grace event. It was organized by Dr. Diana Jackson-Davis, Diversity & Inclusion, and Parkview Health in Fort Wayne, IN.

We will share the information as soon as we receive it.

Thank you so much for your countless support.
