This week marks the one year anniversary of WHO's declaration of the Ebola outbreak. Global Links recently received a detailed distribution report from the Sierra Leonian health authorities that shows how the personal protection equipment we donated last fall was used in thirteen different hospitals and health posts! These materials protect the precious human resources who are so critical in controlling and stopping Ebola. You allowed us to respond quickly and we thank you for your support!
This week we were also able to respond to a new request for reusable medical uniforms for the staff to wear under their personal protection equipment. Global Links' has a national program, Save Your Scrubs, that encourages US hospitals and healthcare personnel to donate, rather than discard, gently-used scrubs in good condition. (More information on this initiative can be found here: http://www.globallinks.org/donate/donate_scrubs.php) Thanks to your support, we were able to quickly prepare nearly 2000 pairs of scrubs in assorted sizes that are on their way to NY, where they will shipped, along with more PPE and disinfectant, in an ocean-going container in the near future.
