Protecting the Next Generation in a Digital Landscape

The HUG Team Facilitating Training at a School

Between January and August 2026, the HUG Project stepped into classrooms and university halls to address one of the most pressing threats facing young people today: the rapidly evolving intersection of digital technology and human trafficking. Across these eight months, our team delivered direct, interactive prevention training to 1,672 students, transforming online vulnerability into informed resilience.

Today's digital environment changes quickly, and so do the tactics of online offenders. Throughout these sessions, facilitators guided students through the complex reality of modern exploitation. Rather than focusing solely on traditional warnings, the curriculum exposed the sophisticated methods perpetrators use to target youth—from social media manipulation and deliberate grooming to sextortion, cyberbullying, and the alarming rise of AI-generated media used to fabricate evidence and force compliance. By walking through real-world scenarios, students learned to see past the initial illusion of trust and recognize the subtle signs of coercion before harm occurs.

Crucially, the outreach bridged the gap between online interactions and human trafficking. Students gained a clear understanding of how digital platforms serve as primary pipelines for recruitment, control, and the generation of child sexual abuse material. By demystifying these connections, the program empowered young people to protect not only themselves but also their peers from falling victim to digital trafficking networks.

The ultimate goal of this work is sustainable self-protection. Participants left these sessions with practical, actionable skills: how to lock down personal data, evaluate risk in digital interactions, practice safe online habits, and, most importantly, know exactly where to turn for help when danger arises. Through your support, 1,672 young people are now navigating the digital world with greater confidence, awareness, and safety, turning education into an active defense against exploitation.

Thank you for working with us to protect and empower the next generation!
