Since 2021, the HUG Project provided assistance to children who were victims in human trafficking cases in the form of online sexual exploitation. The perpetrator was in Phuket and tricked and groomed two girls who are in Northern and Central Thailand with plans to exploit and deceive the girls using romance, to produce pornographic content which was then distributed for commercial purposes.
Our team has flown to Phuket to attend the arrest operation which leads to identification of these two victims who testified against him. Our clients have to testify in two courts one in Phayao province another one in Bangkok. Your support assist our clients with travel and accommodation expenses for our clients to travel from their hometown to Court.
After the Hug Project collaborated with the Thailand International Crimes Against Children Taskforce Police (TICAC police) and relevant judicial agencies, the following verdicts were reached:
In the first case, the perpetrator was sentenced to 5 years in prison and ordered to pay 710,274 baht (19,655 USD) in compensation.
In the second case, the perpetrator was sentenced to 3 years in prison and ordered to pay 352,488 baht (9,758 USD) in compensation.
We are very thankful for the girls who are bravely testify against the perpetrator and for their three years of sacrifice to ensure that justice is served!
