Project Report | Jul 7, 2015
Project update. July 2015.

By Roberto Lamego | Project Leader

Roberto Lamego and Japu bird nest.

I am Roberto Lamego leader of project, GlobalGiving #1911, Trees and Education Protect Rainforest in Brazil.
And I have a problem.
As I said in the last report: “As you know for the last two years I have an illness that is impeaching my full operational capacity, but I hope to resolve this with another and definitive surgery that will take place in a couple of days.
So, I will be “out of business” for a few months. Wish me please good luck and good health. I will be out but the project will be running.”
I was operated on 27/January successfully, but I had very serious problems in the postoperative period which made me stay three months, 100 days in the hospital in ICU most of the time. Luckily I got out alive but very weak. I'm in a recovery period that happens slowly. I've been in the city of Rio de Janeiro since the surgery.
Only last week, after five months, I was able to come home to Valença, Rio de Janeiro State, and where the project is located.
Here, I've been trying to recover my time out and give an up to date in many subjects.
And a first thing to do is precisely up-to-date the project report that is late.
The project Trees and Education Protect Rainforest in Brazil, going well, normally working internally with the facilities being maintained and cared for, roads and trails cleaned and the plantations and other agroforestry activities carried out by two employees who work there.
We planted this year some 900 seedlings.
Only the activities of taking groups to spend "A Day in the Forest", our environmental education program is not been carried out.
We here organizing a group of visitors for the July 4, and preparing the site, but bad weather made us postpone this visit.
Please see attached photos of our facilities and the slideshow.

We build all these facilities and network of trails through the forest and agroforestry demonstration plots to receive every week, at least a group of visitors to the Sierra da Concórdia Wildlife Sanctuary.
Due to my illness this did not happened.
We need your comprehension to understand my desire to maintain the project running even if I cannot be there most of the time.
Physically, I really hope to recover but don’t know for sure how long it will take.
Meanwhile, I am obliged to run our project this way.
Thank you so much for your support, help and your donations that helps us a lot to pay the heavy monthly costs.
