Trees and Education Protect Rainforest in Brazil

Dear donors of the project "Trees and Education Protect Rainforest in Brazil".

As I said in the last report the educational part of this project is not occurring because of my medical problems, but the plantations at the Serra da Concordia Wildlife Sanctuary continues to run and this year we planted around 800 seedlings of palm trees, fruit trees and various hardwoods.

And we have already ordered another 800 seedlings from our supplier to be planted at the end of the year when the rains will start again.

Here you will see the acquisition of these seedlings and their delivery at the Serra da Concordia Wildlife Sanctuary.

Our mountain forest has very large biodiversity and a main importance as it is one of the last big remains of the Atlantic Rainforest in this region.

Because of this we have constantly teams from Rio de Janeiro State University and from the National Museum doing research on the area. At this moment we have a team studying bats, (more than 40 species already found) and another one researching plant parasites.

Please see attached pictures of a young Tropical Rat Snake, Spilotes pullatus, Caninana in Portuguese. These snakes can reach more than 2 meters.

This is another reason to continue our project although I cannot be present there all times.

I am negotiating with GlobalGiving about the best course for this project since I would not like to have it retired from the GlobalGiving site.
