This time we are featuring one of our beneficiaries that you; our sponsors, well-wishers have impacted in her life in the most amazing away, special thanks to you from us Tareto Maa family.
Meet Evaline 36 years a jovial and outgoing mother of 7 kids, gifted in ball games and athletics. Her dream to venture into education and co-curriculum activities was cut short when her parents forced her to be circumcised in the year 1999 in a group of 17 others. The cut was so severe that it literally took her 1 month to heal, unfortunately upon release from the seclusion period, Evaline was regarded as whole grown women hence befit for marriage, and she was hence married off at the age of 15.
According to Evaline, this decision marked the beginning of all her pains and sorrows yet she just ought to be a helper to her husband; all house chores and kids upbringing was literally on her shoulders. Looking after cattle, farming, taking care of the home was hers to manage, just but to mention but a few. Her husband on the hand spent much of his time with his age set in moranism to the extend that family to him didn’t count. Moreover to Evaline she thought it was all frustrations and lack of a job that took him away from them. She spent much of her time praying that God does remembers her family and have her husband get a job to help in building a better home and life for their kids.
Miraculously, the husband secured himself a job at Ewaso-Ngiro Osim County Lodge as a cook in the year 2012 having worked as a non-trained security guard in various places before on contract basis. To Evaline these was a new dawn to her and her lovely kids, keeping in mind that her deceased mother in-law had left them in debts during her entire illing period till her demise. The parcel of land that helped them grow some little food for the family had to be leased for a period of 10 years in order to pay back the money.
True to her desires, life changed for the better, indeed things were gradually falling in place and it was all joy at their home. Little did Evaline know that all these was short lived cause in a period of 2 years hell broke loose and things became more worse than they were initially, unlike the first 2 years her husband disconnected from his family, he didn’t communicate neither provide for the family, in addition he hardly came home to his family and if he does he comes in as a visitor with no support to his family needs. Evaline was thus forced to work at the nearby homesteads at a fee of 2 Euros a day, whenever she was called upon. Unfortunately these could not sustain the daily varied needs of her 7 kids all along.
In the year 2010 Evaline heard the presence of the Tareto Maa Project in Kilgoris Central Ward, Pirrar Division that was geared to help the disadvantaged people in the community. She sought within herself to go and look for any help and support that she would get for her family. On arrival she met Mrs. Gladys Kiranto the founder, she shared her biggest nightmare to her hoping to be helped. Gladys on the other hand advised her to supply her with one kid’s details hoping that she would have her sponsored. After 3 years of waiting Gladys broke the good news to her that her daughter Silantoi whom by then was 8 years old had got a sponsor. Evaline couldn’t express her joy because she knew that some burden had been taken off her shoulder. Evaline is so much grateful to Silantoi’s sponsors for their love and kindness. Silantoi will be sitting her class eight examinations with 16 others. Evaline says, she has been receiving all gift, letters and money for Silantoi from her foster parents for the last 6 years consistently with no delays. “I don’t know how best to pay them, but am always praying God to bless them and their families abundantly,” says Evaline in tears.
In 2018, Evaline sought to ask for whatever job she would get at Tareto Maa to cater for the needs of the other 6 kids, owing to the fact that she dropped out of school after sitting her grade 8 examinations, she had no papers to earn her a decent job hence she chose to fetch water from the river and help in the school kitchen for a little pay. Evaline is happy that she now has her monthly salary and since then she has been able to take care of her family and taken the other kids to the nearby schools with ease.
We as Tareto Maa hereby join hands in appreciating all our sponsors and well-wishers for your continued support and sacrifices towards putting a smile and giving hope to our beneficiaries. It’s been a journey that begun with one step and now changing lifes for the better for our community
Thank you so much for trusting in us, in saving humanity. BLESSINGS!!!
