By Heather Moore | Supporter Engagement Officer
At just eight years old, Kaami spent his days begging and collecting garbage to support the family’s poor financial situation. Despite working two jobs, his father struggled to support his Kaami, his mother and three siblings.
As our team began to work with Kaami’s family, we helped them understand the importance of education in creating a brighter, more sustainable future for the whole family.
Kaami’s mother was overwhelmed and confused by the school admission process – Kaami didn’t have the ID necessary to enroll in school. We helped Kaami gain the necessary documentation, and we gave him a school bag containingeverything he needed to attend school and thrive in his classes.
With this new start, Kaami stopped begging and now visits the children’s activity centre to complete his homework and study after school. His attitude and behaviour have improved and his family, especially his mother, is delighted with his progress and the positive changes in his behaviour.
Thanks to you, Kaami now has a better, brighter future ahead of him - thank you!
