Meet Endesha, the woman changing young lives

By Heather Moore | Supporter Engagement Officer

Endesha, aged 63, has been part of our Fit Person programme for 7 years. This is a nationwide initiative providing home-based case for some of the most vulnerable children in Tanzania, especially those living and working on the streets.

Fit persons like Endesha are crucial for supporting the children we meet at risk and alone at our help desks in Tanzania's bus terminals.

They enable vulnerabe young people to have a safe, family-based home to go to, ensuring they are supported whilst we trace their families to reunite them, or support them into a more self-sufficient life away for the streets.

Since joining the program, Endesha has opened her heart and home to 32 children, creating a safe and nurturing environment that many of these vulnerable children had never experienced before.

Two siblings she recently supported were rescued through the Magufuli Bus Terminal Child Support Desk, Endesha provided them with the temporary care and family security they needed to thrive. These children have now been successfully reintegrated into their families.

Children rescued and placed with Fit Persons have shown rapid behavioral improvements compared to those in children's homes, as living in a family setting helps them adapt to the traditions and culture of that home.

People like Endesha are crucial to ensuring that the children we meet at our help desks have the best opportunities to go on to live safer, brighter, happier lives.

Thank you, your support is ensuring we can reach and support these children.
