Riccardo (Sanremo, Italy) turned 21 last November, a few days after the amputation of his right leg due to a devasting cancer which forced him to 50 chemotherapies, a steam cell transplant and infinite post-surgery scars over the last 5 years.
Memories of the amputation are still vivid in his eyes and cruel in his mind: "The first days have been the hardest ones". Sometimes, the pain was incredibly acute, while other times Ricky had the chance to breathe and think about his future: "Physicians and nurses have showed deep humaneness and professionalism. They supported and cheered on me, so I faced this challenge with courage and resolution".
Now, we can announce that Ricky will have a prosthesis: the goal of 150,000 Euros has been reached, thanks to our national and international subscriptions. Ricky will be able to walk again with the artificial limb he has been dreaming since the amputation became clearly unavoidable.
"I count the days. I can't wait for starting over again".
We are thankful to everyone who gave. It's time to celebrate, as a delayed Christmas gift: as Ricky said, "you made my future brighter. This is something I will never forget. Thank you."
