Promoting Women's Leadership in Pakistan

Accomplished Activities during the 6th quarter of the project:

To launch a web-based initiative “Women’s Voices” to feature, connect & amplify the efforts of women for an equal & just world, the following activities are in progress.

1. Designed and launched the logo and profile of Women’s Voices.
2. Ten stories of women and girls from the social, economic and political sectors have been collected and are in the process of finalization for publication on Women’s Voices Pakistan website in the next quarter.
3. Publication of articles by women working at the grassroots level about the issues and challenges of women and girls.
4. Profiling and publication of women leaders from around eight sectors have been collected and in the review process to be published on Women’s Voices Website.
5. Women’s Voices Pakistan has been successfully highlighting women's and girl’s challenges and issues on social media on a regular basis.
6. Mapping of women and girls led initiatives has been started and will be completed during the next quarter.
7. Website of Women’s Voices Pakistan is in progress.
8. Project monthly progress review and planning meeting was held both in the head office in Islamabad. During the meeting project progress was reviewed, challenges were discussed and an action plan was reviewed and finalized for every next month.

Accomplished Activities during the 5^th quarter of the project:  

• Coordination and networking meetings of Gender Responsive Action Forum (GRAF) were facilitated. Members shared their issues and problems and developed and actions plan to resolve them together.

• After a detailed conversation with the organization team and GRAF members, it was agreed to lunch Women’s Voices initiative to feature, connect and amplify the efforts of women for an equal and just society. During the next quarter, a proper website of Women’s Voices initiative will be launched to start promoting women’s efforts.

• Two days of training on Gender Sensitive Planning and Budgeting was organized for 20 members of the GRAF. Among these members, elected women representatives were also included. The GRAF members became aware of the importance and effectiveness of Gender Sensitive Planning and Budgeting and that how to incorporate them during planning and budgeting.

• Members from GRAF arranged 12 awareness sessions in 10 villages on the importance women right to inheritance in their communities.

• Awareness sessions on District Committees on the Status of Women (DCSW) were conducted for women and girls in village Ziarat. The Chairperson of Lower Dir DCSW Ms. Najma Falak shared the information and mandate of the committee with Women.

• Project monthly progress review and planning meetings were held both in the head office and field office Lower Dir. During the meeting project progress was reviewed, challenges were discussed and an action plan was reviewed and finalized for every next month.
