Dear donors, friends, and supporters,
After having welcomed our new group of GlobeMed members in September, there is an air of excitement that has grown even stronger as the October weeks fly by. With half the semester behind us, our chapter would like to convey our sincerest appreciation for your ongoing support and donations. In addition, our chapter has been in full swing since the summer months, so we would also like to update you on the status of our project.
Gulu Women’s Economic Development & Globalization (GWED-G) staff, in partnership with our chapter of GlobeMed at Columbia University, continues to be dedicated to making meaningful change through our initiatives. As a chapter, we remain committed to GWED-G’s mission and goals.
During late September, we hosted our semesterly Krispy Kreme fundraiser! With the sun out and plenty of foot traffic on Columbia’s campus, many people stopped by to learn about GWED-G’s initiatives and to enjoy a donut or two. It was particularly exciting to see our new members involved in this fundraiser. Their enthusiasm and drive rubbed off on everybody, helping make the event a huge success.
In addition, we were invited to participate in Columbia University Chinese Student Club’s Night Market, which seeks to emulate the iconic night markets of East Asia. As a chapter, we made and sold delicious crepes. The funds from that night will help us meet our fundraising goal for our project with GWED-G.
With November quickly approaching, our members are eager for HillTop! HillTop is an annual conference that we plan and host with the aims of increasing our knowledge of global health and fostering community within the GlobeMed chapter network. The following is this year’s theme: Political Perspectives: Inequalities and Access to Care in the Global Health Arena. Our HillTop co-chairs always have exciting updates to share during executive board meetings, so we all anticipate the event to be a huge success!
Your support, no matter its magnitude, directly helps to reach vulnerable populations in Northern Uganda. As a chapter, we remain driven because we all believe proper health is a condition deserved by all. Until this is met, we will continue to rally, initiate, and advocate for change. As a supporter, you too enable this movement through your generous donations.
As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions or comments, and continue to follow our activities on our websites and social media platforms. Our communications team has a lot in store for these platforms!
Best Regards,
Cayo Gonzalez
